LifeBridge is pleased to partner with SocialRx to expand social prescribing, an approach that connects people with non-clinical community experiences that can support health and well-being. Through the partnership, LifeBridge clinicians can connect clients with personalized arts, cultural, nature, movement, and other community-based experiences based on their interests and needs, complementing behavioral health treatment while strengthening connection to community.
The partnership also reflects a broader belief at LifeBridge: communities are not defined only by their challenges, but also by the strengths, relationships, and resources that already exist within them. This idea aligns closely with the Self-Healing Communities framework commissioned by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which emphasizes building a community’s capacity to promote connection, resilience, healing, and well-being. The framework recognizes that direct services are necessary, but are not sufficient on their own, and calls for strengthening the relationships, networks, and community resources that can support people beyond formal services.
Social prescribing puts that principle into practice in a tangible way. Rather than viewing community resources as separate from health care, it creates an intentional pathway connecting people to the artists, cultural organizations, parks, libraries, activities, and relationships that can contribute to their well-being. In this way, social prescribing can help make the community itself part of the infrastructure we draw upon to support health.
